WEN Book Swap

Building on a successful scheme in Wimbledon, West Ealing Neighbors installed a book swap shelf in West Ealing Station in May, 2010. This provides a place for local residents and commuters to swap the books they no longer want for those that they do, reducing waste and enhancing people’s trips from West Ealing Station. WEN uses Freecycle and local contacts to get books for the swap.

Having given away well over 3,000 books in three years, this scheme has won many plaudits from local residents. It’s also been the starting off point for Committee member, Chris Gilson’s Books for London campaign which has the purpose of getting book swaps in stations across the city.

We need volunteers who live nearby, or who use the station, to keep an eye on the shelves and make sure they’re tidy, and to let us know when the book swap is too full or too empty. If you’d like to help us out with this, or if you have books that you’d like to donate, please let us know, at WestEalingNeighbours@gmail.com.
